Tunkhannock's urban forest benefits its inhabitants by improving air and water
quality, absorbing sound and noise,
lessening psychological stress, increasing
a sense of relaxation, and ultimately,
promoting personal and public health.  In addition, benefits include reducing energy usage, increasing property values, and furthering economic stability.  The
association and the commission seek to maintain optimum tree cover and a species diversity that improves personal and public health within an aesthetically planned environment.

One of the county's greatest assets
is a strong sense of community. Whether a citizen is involved in a community or citizen association or volunteering countless hours to helping in our parks, libraries, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court or the Area Agency on Aging, citizens contribute in many ways to the quality of life in Wyoming County.

This environment can be achieved by planting and maintaining trees along borough streets and public rights-of-way and within municipal open space and by conducting an effective community forestry program through education and involvement.
