Back in the early 70's
a group of
Borough Residents saw that the
old beautiful Trees of Tunkhannock were dying and
decided to do something about it. They got together and formed "The
Tunkhannock Tree Association". They raised money to plant new trees through
community donations. They planted new Maple trees
to replace the old dead trees that were begin taken
down.

Today we have many volunteers and groups lending us a
helping hand to plant the right tree in the right place. Also
to, help with the pruning and maintenance of our existing trees.
Thanks to the founding members foresight the Tunkhannock Tree
Association of this decade has planted many new species of trees to
diversify our urban forests.
