 Descriptions

Biking

We can accommodate a group of 10 people with bicycle rental. Bring your own bicycle and we can serve a larger group.

On site tours are done on Rails to Trails.  Off site tours are currently limited by how many bicycles we can pack onto our cars, or pack a few onto your car.

 On site repair and emergency shuttle included.  Bicycles are well maintained mountain bikes.  Helmets come with rentals.  Other accessories available on request.

Currently our bicycle tours cover open and clear trails or backwoods roads.  Heavy technical mountain bicycling goes about as far as climbing long, sometimes steep hills on an open path.  Jumping, tricks, major downhill and trails is not applied.

Off site routes are almost limitless.  We are familiar with most roads and many trails in Northeastern PA.  We try to avoid roads with even moderate traffic.  Please inquire if you are thinking about a certain place or would like some ideas.

Canoeing

We can take groups of 8 people and 4 canoes.  You are welcome to bring your own canoe.  If you bring your own canoe we can guide larger groups.

Guided canoe trips cover Susquehanna and Delaware rivers.  Adjacent feeder rivers and streams available on request.  Examples are the Tunkhannock, Lackawaxen, Wyalusing, Lehigh and Bowman rivers and streams.  These rivers range from very easy to somewhat difficult to paddle in acceptable conditions.  They are al beautiful and serene, even surrealistic at times.  Long or intensely paddled canoe trips, say only 8 miles on Class A, but going upstream, are often considered black diamond runs.

A fun trip can be like a gondola ride in Venice.  Paddlers, say two loving couples, don't have to do any paddling at all.  We will set them up with a picnic in the comfortable (and adventurous) recess of our largest canoe hulls.  This trip is private for the couples involved.  Or children can have a good time looking at frogs and bugs.  Private families, groups, couples and individuals will have a good time.

No river exceeds rapids of 2 + rating.  We will not go if conditions exceed this.
Pick a theme, route, and estimated time. 4 to 8 hour. 20 + miles are done in 8 hour time slots. Canoe and gear brought to location.  Shuttling canoers and guide is prearranged.

River difficulty rating:

A = Glass Smooth
I = Beginner
II = Intermediate
II+ = Advanced
(In harsh conditions class A can become II+)

Hiking

We can take groups as large as 30 people.

Hike the Rails to Trails and learn about history, flora, and wildlife.  Hikes can also be turned into challenging running and scouting activities.  These day hikes are informative and fun.

Terrain is anywhere from easy to strongly suggesting extreme caution.  But we will not be climbing any cliffs or scrambling along crumbling and slick slopes.  Locations and emergency exit will be given attention.

The terrain hikers are able to cover in Pennsylvania is unbelievable.  Even 80+ miles of Rails to Trails covers a wide variety of ground.  Pennsylvania has so many natural and historical features.  It is a collage of different and fantastic rock formations and plants.  Parks like Ricketts Glen , Salt Springs and World's End State Parks contain enchanting settings of waterfalls, cliffs and miniature rainbows in mists of spray.

Off site hikes available at most State Parks and many areas of Northeastern PA, please request.

Skiing and Snowshoe

We can take a party of 10 with rentals.  Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoe trails are almost the same as bicycle tours along the Rails to Trails.  Yet skis and snowshoes can go off the beaten path and explore more interesting terrain including challenging climbs up Moosic Mountain.

We can also give guided tours at any park or section of Northeastern PA.

Accessories such as warm clothing and daypacks often available upon request.

Ha ha, simply learning to move fluidly on cross country skis or go two miles on snowshoes without burning up can be an adventure in itself.  We are personally
interested in helping people to move over or through the snow so it becomes
a means of outdoor freedom  Both methods of travel bring the body into close
contact with the fresh air and outdoors.  The feeling electrifies the senses.
  Ski and snowshoe is a complete effort, not always a hard one.

Winter is among the most severe of conditions if approached with challenge in mind.  These tours are carefully made according to our ability and our customer's skill level to handle them.  No ice climbing or deep winter camping for us!

Since snow cover is always uncertain in PA, keep a flexible time plan to schedule when there is snow.  Often the woods and packed Rails to Trails has snow when many areas are bare.

These winter activities can be challenging terrain.  4 hours or more is broken into segments to get rest, kick back and enjoy the company.
