Wednesday of every month at Wyoming County Historical Society, Bridge and Harrison
Streets. Conducts Memorial Day activities, places flags on graves on Veterans Day,
participates in veterans' funerals.
Endeavors to promote
an awareness of, an appreciation for and a desire to preserve nature's beauty and
diversity. Awareness is encouraged through society publications; appreciation
through its activities, and a desire to preserve nature through activism. The Bird
Hotline keeps society members and the public abreast of recent bird sightings and birding
hotspots. Meetings are held the third Monday of Jan., Feb., Mar., Apr., Sept., Oct.,
and Nov. at 7:30 p.m. at the Dallas United Methodist Church. The society also holds
frequent field trips, and serves Wyoming and Luzerne Counties.
Private, non-profit
organization dedicated to protecting and preserving forests, woodlands, waterways,
agricultural lands and other open spaces primarily through the use of conservation
easements, public education and non-partisan government involvement.
To promote the
teachings of Baha'u'llah. Baha'is work for world peace, racial harmony, quality of
men and women and elimination of all forms of prejudice. Meet alternate Saturdays at
7:30 p.m. in Falls Township.
Provides a variety
of specialized foster care programs. Speakers available for presentations that
address the needs, current treatment, and other issues of child abuse and neglect.

Emphasis on
patriotic, historical, educational and objectives. Contributes financially to many
projects of the National DAR including support for four schools helping limited students,
one college and one school for American Indians. Locally sponsors a good citizen
award in Tunkhannock Area and Lackawanna Trail High Schools, an essay contest in
Tunkhannock Area School District for grades 5-8. Descendents of persons who served
in the American Revolutionary War are urged to join the group. Visitors are
welcome. Meetings are held the second Saturday of the month (except January, July
and August) at l p.m. in the Wyoming County Historical Society Bldg., Harrison St.,
Tunkhannock.
To commemorate the
life and Olympic achievement of Dr. Walter B. Tewksbury by encouraging area athletes to
pursue track and field events to Olympic competition.
Provides a means to
exchange information and cooperation between amateur radio operators, promote radio
knowledge, advance individual operating efficiency and advance the general interest of
amateur radio in the community. Monitors a repeater for radio communications
throughout Wyoming County. Meets weekly on the radio to test communications and
teach radio traffic handling. Classes are offered for license training every
February and March. Meets the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Wyoming
County Emergency Operations Center, l5 E. Tioga St.
Club shoots and
meets on the second Sunday each month at club grounds at Mill City Sportsmen's Club on Old
Mill Rd. Promotes the sport of archery. Contact by youth organizations is
welcome. Provides information on bow hunting and recreational archery.
Meets third Thursday
of every month at 7:30 p.m. at the Pink Apple Restaurant. Sponsors or supports four
road races every year, maintains litter control on Sunnyside Rd. and has an annual banquet

The Tunkhannock Area
Chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet
Singing in America. Designed to provide an opportunity for men to enjoy singing songs in
four-part harmony. Presents an annual concert at Tunkhannock Area High School and
offers periodic sing-outs to various organizations. Society's national charity is
the Institute of Logopedics, dedicated to rehabilitation and training of
speech-handicapped children and adults. Meets every Thursday from 7:30 -l0:00 p.m.
at St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
Encourages,
strengthens and supports the visual and performing arts in
Wyoming and Susquehanna
Counties. Meets the first Monday of each month

Provides a means of
exchange of photographic information. Shares in club competitions. Promotes
good photography and shares the art of creating good work. Participates in field
trips, hosts meeting lectures and indoor photography shooting sessions. Meets the
second and fourth Thursdays of each month at 7 p.m. in Rm. 20l, Tunkhannock United
Methodist Church Education Bldg., Warren and Marion Sts.
Provides free
service to Factoryville Borough, Clinton Twp. and parts of LaPlume. Provides
ambulance service to these communities as well as Nicholson and Fleetville.
Auxiliary supports the fire company and sponsors the ambulance. Fire Company meets
first Tuesday of every month. Auxiliary meets second Tuesday of every month.
Trap shooting,
rifle, pistol (action, bullseye and silhouette), archery 3-D, sporting clays, five-stand
sporting NRA affiliated. Meets the last Wednesday of every month at the
clubhouse.
Community Service
through fundraising events such as pancake breakfasts and chicken barbecues. Annual
free Children's Christmas Party. Meets the first and third Monday of every month at
7:30 p.m. at Weatherby's Wayside.
Federated women's
organization whose functions include community projects, fostering of new friendships in a
rural area, and recognition of area women. Meets the second Thursday of every month,
September -May at the Evans Falls Elementary School.
Organizational
services: Provides humane education to county residents, sponsors spay and neuter rebate
program to encourage pet sterilization, operates low-cost rabies vaccination clinics twice
a year, provides telephone response to problems and animal emergencies. The society
is an all-volunteer organization, and new members are always welcome. Meets the last
Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m.at the Dept. of Agriculture Bldg. on Rt. 92 (no meetings
in August or December.
Society of Catholic
men and their families dedicated to upholding the church's teachings by helping others
regardless of national origin or religious status.
Provides education,
support and information for women who choose to breastfeed. Local lending library
available. Medical resources and one-on-one support offered. Meets the third
Tuesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in the nursery of the Tunkhannock United Methodist
Church.
Organization of area
sportsmen. Activities include pig roasts, barbecues, hunter safety courses, clean-up
day, stocking walleye in Lake Carey,
walleye tournaments. Meets the second Tuesday
of every month at 7:30 p.m. at the Oliver House.
Cooperates with the
Lake Winola Lions Club in carrying out its service programs and activities. Provides
community service opportunities for members. Meets the third Tuesday of each
month at 7:30pm. at the Lake Winola Fire Hall.
Non-profit
organization sponsoring numerous services to assist the blind and visually impaired,
speech and hearing research, drug awareness in local schools, food drives and other
community projects. Raises funds to support the Foundation for the Blind, replacing
corneas, eye research, Seeing Eye dogs, diabetes research and summer camp for the blind
and recycle eye glasses and hearing aids. Meets the second and fourth Thursdays of
every month at 8 p.m. at B.T.'s Marine Room, Dalton Rd., Lake Winola.
