| Thanks to the
Northeast Library District, you can select from
thousands of audio book titles by Recorded Books, and hundreds of
language instruction titles by Pimsleur, to download and listen to
on your computer or on your MP3 player.
For portable use,
these audio books require an MP3 player that supports "Secure
WMA" (iPods do NOT work).
To check out digital audio books
- Click
here and type in the patron number on your TPL
card. DON'T FORGET THE LETTER "P"!
- Choose an audio book by browsing or searching (browsing is
recommended because although there are thousands of titles, the
specific authors/titles you think of may not be held).
- You can listen to a preview segment or read more information
before deciding to download the book. You are limited to 10
titles at one time, and you cannot check them back in (they
expire after 3 weeks).
- Click on "Download this Audiobook" to transfer the file to
your computer. You must choose "CD quality" if you wish
to transfer to an MP3 player. Not all players are supported
(iPods do NOT work).
- You must use software like Windows Media Player to start
playing the audio book so that a license will transfer to your
computer. Then you can sync your MP3 player. If your software
does not acquire a license, the audiobook will not play.
